Air Fryer Light Churros are warm cinnamon-sugar pastries with crisp edges and soft centers cooked with far less oil than traditional fried churros.

Ingredients

1 cup water
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cooking spray
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Chocolate sauce for serving

Instructions

  • Heat water, butter, sugar, and salt in a saucepan until simmering.
  • Stir in flour until a smooth dough forms.
  • Cool dough for 5 minutes.
  • Mix in egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  • Spray the air fryer basket lightly with cooking spray.
  • Pipe churro strips into the basket, leaving space between each piece.
  • Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
  • Air fry at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 to 12 minutes until golden.
  • Combine cinnamon and sugar in a shallow bowl.
  • Roll warm churros in cinnamon sugar coating.
  • Serve warm with chocolate sauce.

Notes

Cook in batches for even crisping. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer to restore texture. Pipe evenly sized churros for consistent cooking.
