A DIY jar mix for rich, fudgy double chocolate brownies that makes a thoughtful homemade gift and an easy baking treat.

Ingredients

Dry Mix in Jar:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips or chunks
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
1 tablespoon espresso powder (optional)
To Bake:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Layer dry ingredients in a 1-quart jar: flour, sugars, cocoa, baking powder, salt, chocolate chips, nuts, espresso powder.
  • When ready, preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch pan.
  • Mix wet ingredients: melted butter, eggs, vanilla.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  • Pour into pan, spread evenly, and bake 30–35 minutes, rotating halfway.
  • Cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Can add caramel, white chocolate, or nuts; slightly underbake for fudgier texture.
