Brownie Layer:
½ cup unsalted butter
4 oz dark chocolate (or ⅓ cup cocoa powder + 1 tbsp oil)
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup all-purpose flour
¼ tsp salt
Cookie Layer:
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
⅓ cup brown sugar
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla extract
¾ cup all-purpose flour
¼ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
½ cup chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line and grease an 8×8-inch pan.
Make brownie batter: Melt butter and chocolate, then whisk in sugars, eggs, and vanilla. Fold in flour and salt. Spread in pan.
