1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1/2 cup whole milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon orange zest
2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup heavy cream for ganache

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.

  • Mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  • Combine eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla, then stir into dry ingredients until smooth.

  • Bake 20 to 25 minutes and cool completely.

  • Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, orange zest, and juice until smooth.

  • Whip heavy cream to soft peaks and fold into cream cheese mixture.

  • Spread orange layer over cooled base and chill 1 hour.

  • Heat cream, pour over chopped chocolate, stir until smooth, and spread over orange layer.

  • Chill until set before slicing.

Notes

Chill thoroughly between layers for clean slices. Use fresh orange zest for best flavor.
