Ingredients

Scale

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.

  • Add egg, egg yolk, and vanilla; mix well.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt.

  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet; mix until just combined.

  • Stir in chocolate chips.

  • Chill dough for at least 30 minutes.

  • Scoop onto parchment-lined baking sheet.

  • Bake at 350°F for 9–11 minutes.

  • Cool on pan 5 minutes, then transfer to rack.

Notes

Chill dough for best texture. Use chopped chocolate for gooey pools. Store with a slice of bread to maintain softness.
