1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar (optional)
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan.
Melt butter and mix in sugars until smooth.
Whisk in eggs and vanilla until thick and glossy.
Stir in cocoa powder, flour, and salt until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips and/or nuts if using.
Spread batter evenly in prepared pan.
Bake 20–25 minutes, until edges are set and center is moist.
Cool before slicing.
Use warm butter to help dissolve sugar and create a shiny top.
Do not overbake for the fudgiest texture.
